Ukraine reduced the extraction of natural gas from underground gas storage facilities in the heating season for the period from 15 October 2016-8 January 2017 compared to the same period 2015-2016 19% to 3.27 billion cubic meters.

About it reports a press-service of the National oil and gas holding “Naftogaz of Ukraine” on the page in social network Facebook. “The selection of gas from underground storage facilities (UGS – ed.) since the beginning of the season this winter is 19% less than last winter (and 45% less than in winter 2014-2015)”, – stated in the message.

It is also noted that the selection of gas from 15 October 2016-8 January 2017 amounted to 3.27 billion cubic meters, while during the same period of 2015-2016, the figure was 4,07 billion cubic meters.

As reported, in September 2016, the government approved the schedule of preparation for the heating season, and identified the volume of stocks of fuel to provide consumers with heat and electricity. In particular, gas reserves in underground storage facilities shall not be less than 17 billion cubic meters. Thus, according to the estimates of the NJSC “Naftogaz of Ukraine”, the gas reserves of 14.5 billion cubic meters is sufficient for passage of the heating season.
